Vinyasa
Vinyasa yoga, originally derived from Ashtanga yoga, is a creative form of yoga where poses are linked together with the breath in a flowing sequence. The beauty of Vinyasa yoga is the variety. Vinyasa focuses on transitions, breath, and movements with less time spent in stationary poses. Flexibility, strength and balance are also emphasized. We welcome you wherever you are in your practice.

Myofascial Release Yoga
Decompress and de-stress with a combination of ball work for myofascial release and gentle yoga. Since tension must first be released before it can be stretched, ball work creates an opportunity to melt open tight spaces, to reduce pain and emotional blocks and to live with more ease.
Gentle yoga will include movement and long holds supported by blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters. All props, including balls, will be provided for your use or you may bring your own.

Wall Yoga
Wall Ropes Yoga opens up possibilities and brings a fresh perspective to your practice! The ropes are attached to the wall and can be used to facilitate deep stretching, proper alignment, supported poses and even inversions. At Yoga Chikitsa we feature a completely unique style of Wall Ropes designed by our owner: Wall Ropes Strength & Conditioning. Note: This class is limited in capacity and often waitlisted.
Strength and flexibility are equally important in yoga, and this unique class will build both. Support your flexibility through strength work using our wall ropes and your body weight. Support your strength with flexibility gained during stretch time at the beginning and end of class, using the ropes and swings as tools for opening and support. Increase resilience of mind and heart through practice at both of these qualities.

Stretch
Excellent for deep release in tired or tight muscles, all of our Stretch classes are low-impact, great for beginners, and a wonderful way to open, unwind and restore the body. Poses might be held longer in these classes, enabling students to experience blissful relaxation while creating length in the muscles and relieving stress on the skeletal system.
We offer several variations of Stretch:
Deep Stretch, Stretch & Meditation, Stretch & Unwind, and Saturday Morning Stretch & Coffee.Temperature: please refer to Schedule for each class’s range.

Ashtanga
Ashtanga is a dynamic, traditional, structured form of yoga. A mix of Hatha and Vinyasa, Ashtanga focuses on a set sequence of poses in a prescribed order, breath work, and points of attention. It is an energy building practice designed to detoxify, enliven, and eventually become moving meditation.
At Yoga Chikitsa we offer three ways to learn and practice: Full Led Primary Series, a shortened Led Primary Series, and Mysore.

Yin
Yin yoga is a slow, soothing, and meditative style of yoga that targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues- ligaments, joints, the deep fascia networks of the body, as well as the meridians. This is in contrast to a Yang yoga practice (ex: Vinyasa yoga) which targets the muscles. Yin is an excellent complement to these more movement based practices. Yin includes specific passive poses that are held for an extended time, usually 3 to 7 minutes, and will improve your overall flexibility and range of motion.

Flow
Flow classes are Vinyasa based- you can expect the same creative sequencing and breath based movement. It’s the first word that matters for these!
At Yoga Chikitsa, we offer: Power, Gentle, and Slow.
Power Flow kicks it up a notch with extra opportunities to reach your edge through physical challenges. You will encounter options to build strength using your body weight as well as practice inversions and arm balances.
Temperature: low 80sGentle Flow slows us down to a mindful pace. This class is a slower, chaturanga-free flow class wherein students are invited to gently transition from one yoga posture to the next using the breath as a guide.
Temperature: high 60s to low 70sSlow Flow builds a slow burn. This class focuses on strength, stability, and postural integrity. Asana are held for several rounds of breath to offer ample time for alignment while retaining the rhythm of flow yoga.
