Sauna

Why Infrared?

Infrared saunas are different than dry or steam saunas because they raise your core temperature to heat you internally rather than simply heating the air around you, producing a deep detoxifying sweat from the inside out. Because of this, infrared saunas can effectively produce desired results at lower temperatures than other types of saunas which can make them more accessible to those who do not tolerate the heat as easily. This process also makes it easier to breathe throughout your sessions.

Benefits

  • Detoxification: Infrared saunas help to eliminate toxins, pesticides, and heavy metals through your biggest organ- the skin! Essentially they naturally induce an artificial fever, similar to what your body does when infection strikes, providing a boost to your immune system and producing a detoxifying sweat at the cellular level where most toxins reside.

  • Improved Blood Pressure & Circulation: Studies have shown infrared saunas to reduce blood pressure by increasing blood flow and heart rate (similar to what occurs during exercise) improving both circulation and cardiovascular health over time.

  • Weight Loss: As your core body temperature raises, your body works to regulate it which burns calories (between 200-600 per session). It also boosts your cardiovascular, lymphatic, and immune systems creating a fat based sweat to help your body detox. Any water weight lost will return, but the caloric burn works in the favor of overall weight loss.

  • Relaxation, Stress/Fatigue Reduction: Infrared sauna sessions are therapeutic, refreshing, and are known to help improve sleep. You’ll have time to yourself to read, listen to music, meditate, or relax quietly while you receive the benefits of the gentle soothing heat.

  • Natural Pain Management: Infrared saunas help relieve inflammation, stiffness, and soreness by increasing circulation and penetrating deeply into tissues, joints, and muscles. Metabolic waste products are carried off, and in turn fresh oxygen rich blood is delivered to muscles for faster recovery. People with chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis reported fewer symptoms after use.

What to Expect & Considerations

One Infrared Sauna Session is up to 30 minutes long. Plan for a few minutes at beginning and end of session to get settled and to wrap up/change. The sauna will be heated between 120 - 140 degrees and can be adjusted upon your arrival.

  • Drink plenty of water before and after sessions.

  • Do not take your phone into the sauna and be aware that jewelry can become very hot during sessions.

  • Bring anything you plan to read during your session.

  • Take your overall health into consideration before usage. Check with your doctor if you have questions about trying it.

  • Get out early if you feel discomfort or overheating. It can take time to work up to long periods in the sauna.

  • Towels are provided, but bring a dry change of clothes to avoid sitting in wet clothing on your way home.
